When Jenene Lewis left a management position in the banking industry so she could return to Radford to care for her father, she realized the time was right to pursue her bachelor’s degree.
As a non-traditional student, Lewis needed to find a program that allowed her to maintain a full-time job. Radford University’s School of Social Work offered her the flexibility to continue working while also offering a rigorous curriculum, exceptional faculty and a close-knit student body.
Lewis says she has always been interested in a second career in a “helping” profession. Social work’s goal is to enhance the wellbeing of people who are vulnerable, oppressed or living in poverty – a perfect fit for her life goals.
“I feel my life purpose lies within the framework of this profession,” she said.
With her May 2013 graduation rapidly approaching, Lewis is already planning for the future.
“My plans are to seek employment in social work and ultimately pursue a master’s degree in the field,” she said.
