Radford University Recycling and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys are encouraging RU students to donate their unwanted items to charity while moving out of residence halls instead of tossing the items into the trash.
Beginning May 2, Goodwill Edgar donation boxes will be placed across the RU campus as 24-hour drop-off points for gently used, unwanted items that can be donated to Goodwill. Only small, non-breakable items can be donated in the Edgar boxes. The Give and Go Move Out 2014 donation drive ends May 8.
A Give and Go kickoff event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 2, at the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center Plaza.
Edgar donation boxes will be located at Moffett Hall, Muse Hall, Governor's Quad, Muse Hall and the main quad. At those same locations, staffed collection sites, with one extra collection point between Ingles and Pocahontas halls, will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 2-8.
Accepted items include: clothes, shoes, purses, belts, books, games, CDs and DVDs, household items, furniture, carpets, electronics, computers and computer equipment, small appliances and canned and non-perishable food.
