As part of our comprehensive alcohol prevention program, Radford University is requiring all new students to complete AlcoholEdu for College – an online, non-opinionated alcohol prevention program. Used on over 500 campuses nationwide, the course uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you better cope with the drinking behavior of your peers.
The course has two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement:
· Part 1 of the course takes approximately 2 -3 hours to complete, and we recommend that you take it in multiple sittings. This part ends after Survey 2 and the Exam. You must earn a grade of 70% or higher to pass and receive credit for the course. The deadline for finishing Part 1 was August 24, 2012.
· About 30 days after you complete Part 1, you will receive an email asking you to complete Part 2. The deadline to complete Part 2 is September 30, 2012.
Please remember that your participation in AlcoholEDU is mandatory. Students that fail to complete part 1 and 2 of the course will have a hold placed on their account and not be allowed to register for classes for the spring 2013 semester. Additionally, any student that is found in violation of the alcohol policy and failed to complete the appropriate part(s) of the course will receive a notice of violation of the RU Standards of Student Conduct "Failure to Comply" which could result in additional sanctions and educational tasks.
Please note that the course includes three surveys that measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as whole and will never see individual students’ answers.
Multiple emails containing detailed instructions and a link to allow your participation in the program were sent to your RU email account during summer 2012. Please check your RU email to ensure you receive this message.
