Radford University is proud to offer its students a wide variety of Special Programs. From opportunities for the new student to an exciting selection of travel abroad programs, students at Radford are FAR from limited to the traditional classroom experience.
Radford University students can study abroad practically anywhere! In addition to faculty-led programs, students may participate in programs offered through accredited international schools or through exchange programs. To find out more about what programs are offered, visit the International Education Center.
Radford University has developed programs and services to promote its intent for all admitted students to be both challenged and supported in the transition that includes academic, social and personal growth. The Office of New Student Programs provides orientation and more to help students adjusted to college life.
The Honors Academy provides academic opportunities for motivated and intellectually mature students and recognizes outstanding student achievement. The Academy includes the honors curriculum and a residential community in Floyd and Peery Residence Halls. The Honors Academy exists as an instantiation of as close to an ideal "community of learners" as possible, that fosters collaborative scholarship, both between students as well as between students and faculty. The Honors Academy also promotes intercultural experiences, including study abroad, and leadership opportunities as integral components of an Honors Education at Radford University.
At Radford University, we know that learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. Our students get hands-on experience in their fields of study through internships, jobs and service learning.
Career Services at Radford University provides a team of people to assist students in finding the right experiential learning opportunity for their unique needs. The team offers assistance in choosing a major, career planning, developing a portfolio, learning how to network, finding a job or internship and more.

Radford University offers four sessions during the summer: Maymester, Summer I, Summer II and Summer III. Taking classes in the summer helps students graduate on time - or even early! For more information about taking summer classes, visit the Summer Session website.
Wintermester is a new inter-session offered during winter break beginning in December 2012. All Wintermester courses are offered online and are designed to help students achieve academic success. Taking a Wintermester class can help reduce a student's course load in fall and spring and/or help a student graduate on time -- or even early!
