Major: Master of Business Administration in the College of Business and Economics and College of Graduate and Professional Studies
Campus Involvement: Resident Director in Muse Hall and a member of the MBA Student Association
For Willie Ward, completing his undergraduate degree was just the beginning of his educational pursuits. His passion and drive for a career in business inspired him to seek a master of business administration (MBA) program that would help open doors to job opportunities.
“I was looking for professional opportunities as well as a place to further my education,” he said. “My research led me to Radford University for a variety of reasons, including the outstanding faculty and students, the structure of the MBA program and the opportunity to become a resident director.”
While he applied to other business schools on the east coast, Radford University stood out as the best fit for him.
“RU’s MBA program is one of the top programs in Virginia, and has received national attention,” he said. “I wanted to be a part of a program that would challenge me to expand my interpersonal skills and attain new ones.”
With a state-of-the-art trading room, technologically advanced classrooms, collaboration rooms and resource libraries, the new College of Business and Economics building also played a role in Ward’s decision to make Radford University his first choice. Ward enjoys the professional atmosphere of the facility, and believes it simulates the atmosphere of corporate America.
With another year ahead of him, Ward remains open-minded about the opportunities that lie ahead after he earns his degree.
“My plan is to enter the corporate arena in a trainee program that’s on the fast track to management,” he said.
