As an undergraduate student, Rumana Sultana knew she wanted to pursue an MBA, but she also knew she wanted to spend a few years working before she returned to school.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance at a university in Tennessee, Sultana began her career as a development assistant for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Nashville. It was a rewarding start for a young woman wanting a business-focused career. However, in 2008 a new opportunity presented itself and Sultana made her way to Washington, D.C., where she accepted a position as a project coordinator and was eventually promoted to a marketing and events manager for the National Association of Broadcasters.

In 2012, Sultana moved again, but this time it was for love. A newlywed, she followed her husband to Roanoke, Va.

As Sultana adjusted to a new city and a new life, she turned her attention to her long-held dream of pursuing an MBA. She did her research and was impressed with Radford University’s nationally accredited program. After her first visit to campus, Sultana was sold.

“I fell in love with the new COBE building and I was also encouraged by the affordability of the program and student to professor ratio,” she said.

After graduation, Sultana plans to jump right back into her career, seeking a position in product or brand management.

“In my chosen field, an MBA is almost essential if you want to further your career,” she said. “My master’s degree from Radford University is the right choice and is going to give me the skill sets to lead teams and think critically when making business decisions.”
