Fall Homecoming and Reunion Weekend 2014

The date for Fall Homecoming and Reunion Weekend is October 10 - 12!

The Office of Alumni Relations is in the process of planning the weekend's schedule of events.  Check back often for updates!

Friday, October 10

7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.                 
Radford University Bookstore
Dalton Hall
Stop by to replenish your Radford University wardrobe or get a new RU coffee mug.

Noon – 7 p.m.
Alumni Homecoming Check-in
Hurlburt Student Center Lobby
All alumni and friends can check in with the Office of Alumni Relations to receive your weekend information packet filled with a schedule of events, nametags and other goodies.

2 p.m.
RU Campus Tour *
Martin Hall, Suite 107
Guests who would like to participate in an admissions information session prior to the tour, please arrive at 1:30 p.m.

6 p.m.             
Radford University Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner $ *

Show your Highlander support as we honor outstanding Radford University sports figures whose achievements have earned them acceptance into the 2014 Athletics Hall of Fame.

Alumni families and reunion groups can refuel from the road trip to RU at Dalton Dining Hall. Dine early, dine late to experience the wonderful cuisine options that the current RU students enjoy.

BT’s Restaurant
218 Tyler Avenue, Radford, VA
Feeling froggy? Hop on over to BT’s as alumni and friends kick off the weekend at one of their favorite college hangouts. Special Highlander food and beverage deals will be available. This is a class reunion gathering spot.

Saturday, October 11

Do you need to replenish your Radford University wardrobe or get a new RU coffee mug? While the Radford University Bookstore will be open all day, the staff invites you to enjoy a 20 percent discount on purchases during a Highlander sale from 9 a.m. - Noon.
10 a.m.
RU Campus Tour *

RU 28th Annual Appalachian Folk Arts Festival
Heth Lawn (Rain location – Heth Hall)
Sponsored by the Radford University Appalachian Events Committee
Join alumni, family and friends for the Appalachian Folk Arts Festival that will include handcrafted art and crafts for purchase and folk music.

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.          
“Women of Radford” Luncheon $ *
Location and Price TBD
The Class of 1964 cordially invites all women of the Radford family to attend. Reminisce about Radford’s history as an all-women’s school and celebrate the RU women of today. Attire is dressy casual and you are encouraged to wear your hats, pearls and gloves. Best hat wins a prize.

2  – 5 p.m.
Alumni Village *
Moffett Lawn (Rain or Shine)
All alumni and reunions will celebrate the weekend at the Alumni Village, the largest weekend event!

Featured events include:
•    The main tent will include dance music from alumnus DJ Shock, interact with your college Dean, and serve as the meeting point for class reunions 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009.
•    Lacrosse Alumni Game (2 p.m.) – Bring your camp chairs or sit on Moffett wall to cheer on our alumni as they take to  the field.
•    Yard Show (3:30 p.m.) – Who will have the best step action as students and alumni strut their stuff on Moffett Wall. Cheer for your favorite!
•    All Greek Life 85th Celebration site
•    Parade of Tents – Who will have the best decorated tent and take home the 2014 Highlander Spirit Rock? Class and affinity groups can request a small tent, table and chairs that they can decorate to showcase their school spirit. Please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 1-888-478-4723 to reserve your spot.

40th Anniversary Celebration of the School of Communication and Sciences Disorder

Highlander Family Weekend Brunch $
Dalton Dining Hall, Pay at the Door
Have brunch with your classmates and friends before you head home. Enjoy a variety of items, including Eggs Benedict, a carving station, and breakfast and lunch entrees.

Q: When will I hear more about the Fall Alumni Homecoming?
A: You will receive monthly email communications that will highlight events throughout the weekend. You can also check www.radford.edu/alumni for the most current schedule of events.
Q: How can I register for the Fall Alumni Homecoming?
A: You can register beginning July 2014 by mail, phone or online now.
Q: When should I arrive?
A: Fall Alumni Homecoming is a three day event, Friday - Sunday. You can arrive Friday afternoon to enjoy all the weekend festivities or on Saturday for specific events of interest.
Q: Who else will be there?
A: All alumni are encouraged to attend the weekend festivities. The classes of 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2009 will be celebrating reunions. Some activities will be special to reunion classes, while other events will be open for all to enjoy.

Accommodations
Room blocks have been reserved at several area hotels.  Most room blocks will expire in September 2014. Please note the Class of 1964 host hotel is Comfort Inn (540) 639-3333. For more information, call Alumni Relations at (540) 831-5248.
