The Lusks' Gift for Scholarships and Speaker Series Designs Future for Success
A major gift of $100,000 from William and Betty Lusk will establish the William C. & Betty J. Lusk Design Merchandising Scholarship and a departmental speaker series. The scholarship provides awards to be given to two exceptional merchandising students every year. Money from the gift will also help fund a speaker series to bring to campus design experts with real-world experience and knowledge of trends and issues within the industry.
The Lusks’ granddaughter Katie is a junior interior design and fashion student. It was her passion for design and love of her department that inspired the Lusk’s gift.
The university’s Department of Interior Design and Fashion is well-known within the design and fashion world. Thanks to its programs in fashion design, interior design and merchandising, award-winning faculty and students, and access to professionals and field experience, the department was recognized by Design Intelligence as one of the top 10 design programs in the United States in 2011.
“Betty and I are delighted to lend our support to RU, especially because it has provided an exceptional education to our granddaughter Katie,” says William Lusk.
