Postmenopausal Female Study Participants Wanted For Health and Human Performance Research– RU Female Faculty and Staff Members

Ladies,

A new dissertation study comparing the acute effects of two types of resistance exercise on glucose/insulin metabolism will occur this summer. If you have not experienced menses for the previous 12 months (postmenopausal), are sedentary (doing less than 20 minutes of continuous physical activity, twice within the past week), are a non-smoker, have no coronary artery disease, have no type 2 diabetes mellitus, and are normal to overweight, you may qualify to participate. The anticipated time commitment for participation is 20 hours over a 4 to 5 week period (this will include time for orientation, recording food intake, lifting orientation for both types of resistance training and testing, and finally 3 oral glucose tolerance tests).  If you participate and complete the study, you will be eligible for $100.00 compensation for your time and efforts.  A meeting is scheduled for 09/15/14 and 9/19/14 at 4 pm, in Peters Hall, Rm B139. For more information please contact George Philippi at 540/831-7743 or E-mail, in the Health and Human Performance Department.
