Meet the Staff
Greetings from the Radford University Conference Services staff. We would like to take this opportunity to share our excitement about the events occurring on campus now through the end of July, and introduce the Conference Services summer staff. We look forward to welcoming approximately 5,000 visitors to Radford University this summer. Dana Pugh - Office Manager
Dana is new to Conference Services, and has worked for over 30 years in customer service as a sales engineer for a major manufacturing facility in the New River Valley, as well as for five years as a sales associate for a local retail store. Dana is currently working as the Conference Services office manager in conjunction with University Services administrative support. This position provides her with the opportunity to enhance and develop the important role of assisting staff and visitors. Her interests include reading, traveling, floral design and spending time with family and friends.
Carly DuPont - Conference Services Team Leader
Carly is a recent graduate of Radford University where she studied recreation, parks and tourism with a concentration in special events and tourism. This is Carly’s third summer as a Conference Services assistant and her second year serving in the role of a Team Leader. Her interests include traveling, going to shows/concerts and checking out local breweries and wineries. Carly is looking forward to spending her last summer at RU and beginning a full-time career in August.
Brenna Ishler - Conference Services Team Leader
Brenna is a native of Maryland, and graduated in May with a degree in social work. While attending RU, she served as the chair of the Appalachian Events Committee, a group dedicated to promoting Appalachian cultural awareness through campus wide events. In her spare time she likes to garden, read, cook, hike, camp and attend an occasional environmental rally. She has two cats and is looking forward relocating to Columbia, Missouri in August. She is excited to be working with Conference Services for a second summer and serving as a Team Leader.
Billy Zakrzewski - Conference Services Team Leader
Billy is a recent graduate from Radford University with a Master of Science in criminal justice and a certificate in crime analysis. Additionally, Billy completed his undergraduate degree in criminal justice and psychology with a minor in interdisciplinary forensic studies at RU. While pursuing his graduate degree, Billy served as a resident director and as an instructor for several college courses. These occupations provided him with rewarding experiences and professional development opportunities. After completing a second summer with Conference Services, Billy intends to travel abroad to either teach English in a foreign country or begin a doctoral program. His interests include running, ultimate frisbee and video games.
Jade Covington - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Jade graduated in May 2014 with a master’s degree in clinical social work from Radford University. Jade earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Ferrum College in the spring of 2012. She is very passionate about working with children with severe mental health disorders. During her time at Radford, Jade worked as a resident director while gaining valuable skills in the social work profession. Jade’s interests include reading, music, cooking and movies. This is Jade’s first year working with Conference Services.
Brianna Kirker - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Brianna is a recent graduate of Radford University where she received a Bachelor of Science in English with a concentration in education and a minor in Appalachian studies. While at Radford, Brianna served as the secretary of the Appalachian Events Committee, a group dedicated to promoting Appalachian cultural awareness through campus wide events. Brianna also was involved in the program Appalachian Arts and Studies in Schools (AASIS), where she mentored local high school students. Additionally, Brianna served as a peer instructor for University 100 through New Student Programs. Her heart is dedicated to the Appalachian region, and she hopes to teach middle school English in the surrounding area beginning in the fall.
Jasmin Lawrence - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Jasmin is a recent Radford University graduate, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in communication with a concentration in public relations. While attending RU, Jasmin served as a resident assistant, the event coordinator for Are U Hype, parliamentarian for NPHC and vice president for the Deliverance Gospel Choir all while working with the Disability Resource Office and maintaining membership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Jasmin’s event planning expertise comes from interning with Conference Services as well as returning as a staff assistant for the summer, numerous club positions and an internship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her interests include reading, shopping and dining out.
Justin Nixon - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Justin graduated in May from Radford University with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a pre-health concentration. Justin is an advocate of personal and community health, and plans to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. While at Radford University, he worked in the Bondurant Auditorium as a technical staff assistant. In addition, Justin engaged in many volunteer activities such as forest restoration of mountain top removal sites and assisted at a local physical therapy facility. In his free time, Justin enjoys going to festivals, hiking, attending live sporting events, playing golf and hanging out by the pool. He is excited to be working with the Conference Services staff this summer.
Johnathan West - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Johnathan graduated in May from Radford University with a Master of Science in criminal justice, a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice in 2012 and has received a post-baccalaureate certificate in crime analysis. During his time at RU, Johnathan, also known as “Moose,” has served the university as a resident assistant and a resident director. Additionally, Johnathan was involved in Alpha Phi Sigma, The National Criminal Justice Honors Society and has participated in emergency management training exercises with the Radford University Office of Emergency Preparedness. Johnathan will be joining Conference Services for the first time this summer before pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Kirnelius Williams - Conference Services Staff Assistant
Kirnelius earned a Bachelor of Science in media studies from Radford University in May 2013. During his time at RU, he served as editor-in-chief of Beehive, Radford University’s year-in-review magazine, a resident assistant, an orientation assistant, president of the National Residence Hall Honorary and as an assistant resident director among several other roles. Kirnelius will return to RU in the fall as a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration in the College of Business and Economics. He also serves as a resident director in one of the 15 residence halls on campus. Kirnelius brings two years of experience to Conference Services and served last summer as a Conference Services team leader.
Madison Nadeau - Conference Services Intern
Madison is currently studying communication with a concentration in public relations, which she anticipates finishing in December 2014. She was born in Arlington and then moved to Purcellville, Virginia during her sophomore year of high school. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, attending concerts and has a very serious passion for music. Upon graduation, she hopes to move to Nashville, Tennessee and work in the country music industry. Madison is looking forward to her summer conference intern experience.
Kenzie Tolbert - Conference Services Intern
Kenzie is a rising senior at Radford University majoring in recreation, parks and tourism with a concentration in special events and tourism. She is also minoring in psychology. She is currently a mentor to RU’s Appalachian Arts and Studies in the Schools (AASIS) program and works as a Youth Development Professional for the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia. She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and attending festivals. This is Kenzie’s first experience interning with Conference Services.
