The Physics Department is hosting the Fall Meeting of the Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (CS-AAPT).The CS-AAPT is a a regional organization consisting of Delaware, the DC area, Virginia and Maryland, and are part of the national AAPT. Our goal from our constitution is "...the advancement of the teaching of physics, the professional advancement of the teachers of physics at all levels, and the furtherance of the appreciation of the role of physics in our culture."
The formal meeting will start at 10am on Saturday morning, with talks given throughout the day. The featured speaker is Dr. Aaron Titus of High Point University. He will give the lunchtime talk titled "Physics on steroids--how to give your physics class a shot in the arm."
On Friday evening, early arrivals will be able to tour through the NASA-sponsored exhibit "Here. There. Everywhere." Read more about this exhibit here. The RU Planetarium will have the show "2012: Mayan Prophecies" starting at 7:15, and afterwards Dr. Jack Brockway will take all who are interested to the Selu Observatory.
