Leah M. Gose is a visual artist specializing in photography and book arts and is an Assistant Professor at Radford University.  Leah holds a B.A. in photography from the University of Colorado – Boulder and an M.F.A. in photography from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.  Her work has been exhibited in various venues both nationally and internationally.

Her personal current work explores memory loss through re-contextualized personal memories and appropriated family photographs.  The Sum of personal Histories explores the American landscape through old and new documentation of family vacation photographs. “Having never lived in one place longer than 5 years I have spent the majority of holidays looking out car widows as I have traveled back and forth across southern portions of America”. This series explores the nostalgia of traveling and sightseeing through a blending of old and new memories that have been photographically preserved.

Huffer Family Design is a collaborative partnership between Leah and Texas Artist Ashlae Shepler.  Their current series Windowless Wanderings examine long-distance collaboration and the heightened sense of self, resulting from such separation.  In consideration of our screen-driven, technological society, the photographs and video animations in Windowless Wanderings explore the phenomenon that despite increasingly global connections and round-the-clock operations, separation and isolation still pervade human psychology. Inspired by the geographic distance between them, the joint efforts of Huffer Family Design explores the feeling of isolation and paranoia that result from feeling separated from familiar surroundings.
