An interview with Matthew Robinson, Outstanding Senior in Dance
The CVPA has Spring Fever and a competitive spirit. Radford University is publicly launching a new fundraising initiative April 17. For one week only, April 17 – 21, each college on campus plus Radford University Athletics will raise money for a project of its choice utilizing a new online crowdfunding platform. Each college and Athletics are competing to see which project can reach its goal first.
Department of Dance assistant professor Amy VanKirk, in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), will premiere a new dance work, “Remember the Future,” inspired by the storied history and major accomplishments of the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
Join the Radford University Performance Series as they host the Russian National Ballet Theatre’s production of the classic Tchaikovsky-composed “Swan Lake.” This dance performance is at 7:30 p.m., March 20, 2017.
Radford University Department of Dance is presenting “World Dance: A Cultural Collaboration,” an infusion of culturally intriguing folk dances Nov. 29, 2016, in Albig Studio Theatre, B112, Peters Hall on the Radford University campus. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the general public. The cultural dances that are being performed are from the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Pacific Islands, China and Ireland.

Interdisciplinary collaborations help the National Aeronautics and Space Administration celebrate its storied history and accomplishments in a performance on May 18 at the Christopher Newport University Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News.
The second of three collaborations between Radford University’s Department of Dance and the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech will bring American Modern Dance icon Twyla Tharp’s style to Radford on March 2.
Radford University Ballet Youth (RUBY) had a student invited to the Youth America Grand Prix finals, a large international ballet competition.
Assistant professor Amy VanKirk encourages difficult discussions through dance. VanKirk challenges her students – including freshmen – to tackle complex and challenging subjects.
Dance instructors Aleksey Plekhanov and Inessa Plekhanova and Radford University Ballet Youth student Lindy Mesmer took home prizes at the 2016 Youth America Grand Prix regional in Philadelphia.
