Fall Dance Fest 2009

The Radford University Dance Theatre will present an evening of dance as part of the university’s arts programming for Family Weekend. The concert will incorporate a wide spectrum of movement styles featuring original choreography by the dance faculty and guest choreographers.


Cracked - A Revamped Nutcracker For A Sinful Society

Wednesday, Nov. 18 and Thursday, Nov. 19 at 8:00 p.m.
Albig Studio Theater in Peters Hall

This performance was co-directed by seniors Juliana Utz and Stacey Fernandez, as their final capstone project for the honors academy. The students have rewritten the classic tale, The Nutcracker, and transformed it into a contemporary evening length dance production. The cast consists of Radford University dance majors and will be presented in the Albig Studio Theater in Peters Hall. Admission is free. Please come and enjoy this revamped holiday classic.


An Evening Of Ballet

Thursday, Dec. 10, Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m.
Bondurant Auditorium, Preston Hall

The Radford University Ballet Theatre, directed by Inessa Plekhanova, will present its traditional Evening of Ballet. This year’s performance will include highlights from world famous classical masterpieces. International guest artists will join members of the RU Ballet Theatre for this exciting celebration of classical ballet.


Dancing on the Edge

Thursday, April 8, Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m.

The spring dance concert offers a broad spectrum of movement styles and diverse musical selections. Guest choreographers will stage or create contemporary works especially for the Radford University Dance Theatre. The concert also features original works by dance faculty.


Student Choreography Showcase

Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13 at 8 p.m.
Albig Studio Theatre, Peters Hall

Talented student choreographers present their adjudicated works to the public in the Albig Studio Theatre. This studio theatre provides a more intimate performance space in which to view dance works.

d a n a h b e l l a DanceWorks annual Spring event is the culmination of a year-long creative research process which evolves company members, local artists, and other community partners. The concert is our way to celebrate the end of our concert season with our friends and community here at Radford University.
