Fall Dance Fest 2012

The Radford University Dance Theatre will present an evening of dance as part of the university’s arts programming for Family Weekend. The concert will incorporate a wide spectrum of movement styles featuring original choreography by the dance faculty and guest choreographers.

Nutcracker

Friday, Dec. 7 at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m.

The Radford University Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker, a holiday favorite for the entire family. This year Inessa Plekhanova, ballet professor and Artistic Director of RU Ballet Theatre, will present her Nutcracker for the University and community. RU dance faculty Aleksey Plekhanov will assist Inessa in staging the production. This magical work, performed to the enchanting Tchaikovsky score, will feature internationally recognized ballet dancers performing the leading roles!

An informal performance of student works choreographed by emerging young artists enrolled in the Choreographic Studies I course.

Pradigm Shift: An Evening of Women's Work

March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Paradigm Shift, a concert celebrating Women’s History Month, features original creative dance works by emerging female choreographers from the RU Department of Dance. Admission is free.

The spring dance concert offers a broad spectrum of movement styles and diverse musical selections. Guest choreographers will stage or create contemporary works especially for the Radford University Dance Theatre. The concert also features original works by the dance faculty.

Student Choreography Showcase

April 22 at 8:00 p.m.
April 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Talented student choreographers present their adjudicated works to the public in the Albig Studio Theatre. This studio theatre provides a more intimate performance space in which to view dance works. The audience will have the opportunity to converse with the student choreographers during the “Talk Back” at the close of the concert.
