Director Jacob Wood (senior) watches a rehersal with stage manager Cody Boyd

Advanced directing students in Radford University's Department of Theatre and Cinema will present their final projects Wednesday, May 1 through Saturday, May 4 in the Hawes Studio Theatre.

Each student directs a one-act play for presentation during "Making a Scene," an annual event. This year's theme is “Memories, Nightmares and Dreams…Oh, My!”

All the plays explore one or more parts of this theme. As usual, the collection of one acts features an eclectic bag of plays from the heart-felt to the heartwarming; the absurd to the profound.

Grace Ellinghaus (freshman) and Chris Creane (senior) portray characters in the play that Jacob Wood is directing.

From Wednesday through Saturday, seven plays will be presented on alternating nights, starting at 7:00 p.m. On May 1 and 3, student directors George Hairston, Sarah Meade, and Brian Lawson present their final projects. James Bristow, James Harden, Reed Imhoff, and Jacob Wood present theirs on May 2 and 4.

Tickets are free and will be available at the Porterfield Box Office starting April 29. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 6:00 p.m., and one hour before each show. To make a reservation, call (540)831-5289.
