RU Theatre Announces 2013-14 Season

baltimore

The Radford University Department of Theatre and Cinema is excited to announce the kick-off of the 2013-14 theatre season. This begins on Sept. 29 with not one, but two plays. “The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek and “The Baltimore Waltz” are both student-directed, designed and acted. These will run in rotating repertory through October 5 in the Hawes Studio Theatre, Porterfield Hall.

Do not wait to claim your place at the table for “The Dining Room coming up in October. This modern American comedy features six actors playing over 50 characters in a delicious theatrical tour-de-force about tradition.

In November a time-honored RU Theatre tradition continues with the presentation of the annual theatre for young audiences’ production. This season’s offering is a brand new adaptation of the much-loved C.S. Lewis classic “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Be among the first to see this world premiere.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” opens the second half of the season in February 2014. This touching portrayal of the struggles of a shy young girl has been called “theatrical gold.”

Cabaret heats up the Pridemore Stage this March when RU Theatre presents the smash musical with its memorable tunes and thrillingly scandalous tale of life in 1930s Berlin.

So, right this way to a journey from rural America to Narnia and many points in between as the new theatre season at Radford University begins.

Tickets for “The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek” and “The Baltimore Waltz” are free. These should be picked up at the Porterfield Hall Box Office (540-831-5289) during the week of the show. The Box Office is open from noon to 6:00 p.m. and one hour before the start of each performance.
