City of Radford

When you are accepted as a student at the university, you become an important part of our larger community, the City of Radford. The people in Radford are friendly, courteous and proud of our beautiful city and our wonderful university. As one of only a few cities on the New River, we offer a variety of recreational opportunities plus scenic places to visit. For the outdoor enthusiast, we have hiking, biking, canoeing and boating. Bisset Park, one of our crown jewels, offers walking and jogging trails plus great picnic areas and places to just sit and enjoy the beauty. Our downtown area is within walking distance of campus and offers shopping with services such as hair salons a florist, a travel agency, restaurants and banks. We have a movie theater plus great places to eat or meet with friends. We also have specialty shops where you can browse for a unique gift for yourself or someone special. There is also a grocery store within walking distance of campus.
