Financial Aid

The best source for answers to your Financial Aid questions will be the Financial Aid Office's website.

Can I get a scholarship/grant?

The key to getting a scholarship or grant is to research options and apply! If you don't weigh your options, you won't know what aid is available to you. And financial aid awards don't appear out of nowhere, so you need to apply for grants, loans, and scholarships in order to get the result you want: help with paying for school! Check out the RU Financial Aid website for more detailed info.

What's the difference between a scholarship/grant and a loan?

The common mistake is to think that these things are all the same. The truth is that a scholarship and a grant are the same thing. It is a sum of money that the student DOES NOT HAVE TO PAY BACK. A loan on the other hand, you will have to pay back.

When do I have to start repaying my loan?

When you take out a loan, you can pick what payment plan you would like to do. Most of them for students will let you finish up your schooling before you have to pay it back. Others can be chosen to be paid as you go through school. It depends on the specific financial aid route you choose, so be sure to check.
