After completing her undergraduate education, and wandering from job to job on the East Coast, Hannah Weiss decided it was time to head back to school to pursue the master’s degree she knew she always wanted.

“I always fell into teaching jobs, working at summer camps, aquariums, and nature programs,” Weiss said. “I really felt that I could make a difference teaching. That’s when I began to consider it as a career.”

While living in Washington, D.C., Weiss started thinking about where she wanted to live and learn. Southwest Virginia was one of her top choices. She loved the beauty of the surrounding area. Once that decision was made, the next decision was easy – she applied to Radford University, where she was offered admission to graduate school.

“I went to a relatively large school for my undergraduate degree and I know a lot of my professors couldn't have picked me out of a crowd, but at Radford it's different. All of my professors know my name and are actually interested in my life – they are always willing to listen and offer advice,” Weiss said.

After graduation, Weiss hopes to land a teaching job in the high-demand math and science fields.

“I’m going to look for a job teaching biology or math, but I really like environmental education, too. “For now, I am excited about the fall semester. I look forward to seeing what opportunities await me in the future.”
