Jedidiah Stalker’s dream is to teach English, either in the U.S. or abroad. While researching graduate programs that would help him achieve that goal, he discovered that Radford University’s English Department offers a robust graduate teaching assistant program, making it the best choice for his master’s degree.
The English Department’s graduate program offers the opportunity for students to conduct independent research and write scholarly papers. It also gives students the opportunity to earn an M.S. degree with teacher licensure – something important to Stalker.
“The teaching assistant program provides a balance of real-world teaching experience and classroom knowledge,” Stalker said. “There’s plenty of support and training, and you still have a good deal of freedom in planning your classes. It’s the real deal.”
Radford University’s idyllic location also appealed to Stalker, who enjoys spending time outdoors. When he’s not in class, studying or holding office hours, he can typically be found on a trail or by the river, enjoying the natural beauty of the New River Valley.
After finishing his master’s Stalker hopes to begin teaching or potentially pursue a doctorate.
