Radford University faculty are more than dedicated teachers; they are accomplished and influential scholars who regularly share their insights to better inform the communities in which we live. During the summer months, Radford faculty served as guests on the “With Good Reason” public radio program, offering insights from their expertise.

This week sees the return of Radford Gives Back, the food drive in which Highlanders volunteer with Bobcat Backpacks, the nonprofit organization, to collect weekend meals to deliver to local public-school students.

While interning at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in 2018, Sadie Friend ’20 discovered a “chomped chimp,” rare recorded evidence of leopards scavenging on chimpanzees. Her findings led to an academic journal article and mention in Discover magazine. 

After 29 years at Radford, Professor of Marketing James Lollar, Ph.D., is retiring. “It is truly an honor and deeply humbling,” he said of the love and kindness he is receiving upon his retirement, and of the support for the scholarship that will honor his legacy.

The annual Highlanders Festival provided fun for everyone with live music, sheepherding demonstrations, children’s games, craft and food vendors offering authentic Scottish fare.

Friends and supporters of Radford University and the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS) gathered at Hemphill Hall on Oct. 1, 2021, for the unveiling and dedication of the Endowment Fund Wall.

Leidy Montoya explored a variety of healthcare professions for over a decade before settling on becoming an occupational therapist. All of her roles, however, had one common element: patients and their well-being.

From September 30 to October 2, alumni gathered on the Radford University campus to celebrate their Highlander pride and to come together as family.

Radford’s Academic Success Center, the Center for Career and Talent Development and many of the university’s faculty presented the REAL Experience on Oct. 4, an event in which representatives from more than 45 academic programs were on hand to talk with students about exploring academic programs and student-engagement opportunities as well as majors and minors within Radford’s new REAL Curriculum

Interim President Carolyn Ringer Lepre, Ph.D., presented the annual State of the University address Friday morning, Oct. 1, 2021, in Bondurant Auditorium, highlighting and celebrating with the Radford family the progress the university has made in the past year and sharing the strategic initiatives that will propel it into the future.

Third-year Radford University Carilion Doctor of Physical Therapy student Sally Sroge helped raise $4,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association during the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Roanoke last year. In 2021, she aims to beat that goal which will help find further treatment and a cure for Alzheimer’s disease in the near future.

Radford University is one of the 143 best colleges in the Southeast according to The Princeton Review. The education services company lists Radford in the Best in the Southeast section of its "2022 Best Colleges: Region by Region" website feature that posted in August 2021.
