    Hispanic Heritage Month – Guitar Concert! Music of Spain and Latin America performed by guitar students/faculty of the Department of Music As part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on the RU campus, RU Guitar students will present a 'musical rainbow,' reflective of the great diversity of musical styles. On the program are some of the most representative composers of the Spanish and Latin American guitar such as Isaac Albéniz, Joaquín Rodrigo, Leo Brouwer, Maximo Diego Pujol, Astor Piazzolla, and Heitor Villa-lobos.     In the Overcoming Stress and Anxiety group, you will learn practical skills to help you decrease your stress, as well as relieving anxiety and worry. If you are experiencing stress or anxiety and want to learn practical ways to solve these problems in a safe space, then this group (limited to 10 or fewer members) would be great for you. If interested, call Student Counseling Services at 540-831-5226. Students will undergo a brief screening to ensure that this group is a good fit for their needs. Depending on attendence, the group will likely be closed to new members after Sept. 19.

    Discussion led by Dr. Gaston Dembele. "Crossing Borders" is a 70-minute documentary that follows four Moroccan and four American university students as they travel together through Morocco and, in the process of discovering themselves. With group travels and frank discussions, the students confront the complex implications of the supposed "clash of civilizations" between Islam and the West. The relationships formed through shared experiences contrast sharply with the media-shaped views Americans and Muslims have of each other. Humor, honesty and a willingness to be challenged all bring individuals closer to each other and the relationships that develop disarm hidden stereotypes.

    A career development and networking event open to all students featuring alumni, business executives and friends of Radford University who will share tips for succeeding in the job and internship market. Students will be briefed on topics such as “Questions to ask an Employer,” “Dining Etiquette,” “Common Interview Questions” and “Making a First Impression.” Among participants will be representatives from Fortune 500 companies, Federal and State agencies and non-profits. Students are encouraged to dress “business casual.”

    Instagramers, photographers, history buffs, chemistry your heart out. The Vacant Chair Photography Studio will discuss and demonstrate the magic of wet plate photography this Saturday (Sept. 21) in the sculpture court outside of Porterfield Hall. All are welcome to attend (and a quick shout out to the Radford University Photography Club for sponsoring this event).
