COBE Honors Its Top Students

The College of Business and Economics (COBE) recognized seven of its top students at the 2012 COBE Winter Honors Program on Nov. 28 and inducted 32 members into the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) honorary fraternity.

"You are here tonight because of the distinction you bring to Radford University, and we value the impression you have made on our hearts and minds and spirits," COBE Dean Faye Gilbert said.

The winter 2012 outstanding students were Mandy Basham, accounting; David Kouadio, economics; Ben Gallas, finance; Maxim Collignon, management; Monica Saunders, marketing; Edward Slagel, full-time MBA program; and Mark McCaskill, professional MBA program.

At the BGS induction ceremony preceding the honors reception, Abhay Kaushik, assistant professor of accounting, was the 2012 faculty inductee, along with 11 MBA students, 12 seniors and eight juniors.

BGS is an international organization that recognizes academic excellence at top business schools, including those accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. Since its founding in 1913, the society has established almost 500 collegiate chapters around the world.

Membership in the BGS at COBE is limited to juniors and seniors who rank in the top 10 percent of their class or MBA students in the top 20 percent.
