Radford University is included in the 2013 Guide to Military Friendly Schools, which recognizes institutions for their contributions to the education of veterans.

"Radford University is committed to supporting the individuals who have served our nation, and it is a great privilege to assist them in completing their education," said RU Provost Sam Minner, vice president for academic affairs. "In addition, the perspectives they bring to their classmates and professors greatly enhance the educational environment on our campus and provide ideas and ways of thinking that add to the richness of discussions and the open exchange of ideas. For these reasons, we are so pleased to be designated a military-friendly school."

According to the Military Friendly Schools website, "These schools offer military students the best services, programs, discounts, scholarships, clubs, networking and staff." Schools receiving the status are selected based on recruiting students with a military background with an emphasis on making graduation their top priority upon their return to school.

RU is among more than 1,700 colleges, universities and trade schools nationally in the 2013 guide. Of those, 53 are in Virginia.

Victory Media, the parent publishing company for G.I. Jobs, The Guide to Military Friendly Schools, Military Spouse magazine and Vetrepreneur magazine, sets standards for ranking the most military-friendly employers in the nation as well as for schools that recruit military personnel and veterans as students.
