Tony Ramsey, a faculty member in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services at Radford University, has been appointed interim director of its School of Nursing (SON).

Ramsey, a certified family nurse practitioner, received a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2001 and a master's degree in nursing in 2003, both from Radford. He also holds a Ph.D. from West Virginia University.

"My goal is to continue to propel the school forward in the same manner as the directors before me. We graduate exceptional students in all of our programs," Ramsey said. "I want to continue to support these students and our outstanding faculty to maintain our reputation for graduating only the best nurses."

Ramsey succeeds Professor Kim Carter, who served as SON's director for more than three years. Carter, who has a grant this semester to complete a meta-analysis study of environmental correlates for childhood asthma, will return to the classroom and will be involved in research consulting for LewisGale Medical Center and LewisGale Hospital at Montgomery.
