Two assistant directors appointed in Office of New Student Programs

Brianna Kuhn and Brianna Ruggles have been named assistant directors of Radford University's Office of New Student Programs.

Both professionals recently graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where they earned M.S. degrees in College Student Personnel.

Kuhn, originally of Cherry Valley, Illinois, will assist with the direction and teaching of UNIV100 – RU's freshmen transition course. She will be involved in parent programs during Quest orientation, and she will work with the department's Noel-Levitz retention consultant, among other responsibilities.

Ruggles, of Huntersville, North Carolina, will have primary responsibility in new student retention initiatives. She will serve as an expert in the administration, interpretation and training in the office's work with the College Student Inventory, a product used to help assist new students in their transition to college. She will also teach UNIV100 and help with the training of Peer Instructors, among other responsibilities.

"We are excited to have Brianna Ruggles and Brianna Kuhn join the New Student Programs professional staff, said Michael Dunn, director of New Student Programs. "Their talents and energy will assist us in delivering a wide variety of programs to support student success. I know that they are excited about joining the Highlander community, working with our student leaders, teaching UNIV100, and in general helping our over 2,000 new freshmen make Radford University their new home."

Kuhn earned a B.S. in graphic design and arts technology from Illinois State University in 2012. Ruggles earned a B.S.B.A. in marketing from Appalachian State University in 2012.
