RU campaign encourages sharing stories

A campus wide campaign is asking students to reflect on the books that have affected the way they view the world.

RU READS: One Campus, Many Voices encourages members of the Radford University community to share a story that has aided in their understanding of race, gender, nationality, ethnic groups, abilities and disabilities, religion, geographic origin or sexual orientation. Entries must be submitted by Nov. 3, before midnight.

The campaign is reflective of RU's growing diversity and honors the strength in differences. It is sponsored by McConnell Library, the Office of the Provost, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and R-SPaCE.

Participants and their book choice will be featured on an RU READS poster and in a short video. The posters will be displayed across campus to promote the featured books. Participants will also receive a copy of their own 2-by-3 poster, an RU READs T-shirt and will be entered into a drawing to win a new iPad.

The campaign will conclude in April with a salsa celebration open to the entire campus, featuring live music, dancing and refreshments.

Students can enter online at RUReads.
