RU DPT students share joy as client receives special gift

Charli, a client of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students at Radford University, was born without hands and feet. He is going places now, thanks to Children's Assistive Technology Service (CATS), a Franklin County-based non-profit.

At the DPT facilities in the Jefferson College of Heath Sciences in Roanoke as the 3-year-old Haitian boy took his first spin in a refurbished Power Wheels car. Watch as Lindsay Ward of WSLS 10 captured the moment.

CATS provides for the re-use of pediatric rehabilitation equipment and devices in Southwest and South Central Virginia. CATS serves as a resource to children with disabilities who need adaptive equipment and whose families have limited resources.
