COBE selects Beach for associate dean

Radford University’s College of Business and Economics (COBE) has named Finance Professor Steve Beach as its associate dean.

Beach started the position on Aug. 25.

“Dr. Beach has been a member of the COBE team for many years and has done so with distinction,” COBE Dean George Low said. “His passion for his work and for our students' success is exemplary. He will be a real asset as he joins the COBE Leadership Team to help serve our faculty, staff and students.”

Beach has been a member of the Radford University faculty since 2001 and has served as the associate director of Radford’s Governmental and Nonprofit Assistance Center (GNAC) since 2012. He is a consultant for the CFA Institute, helping develop the curriculum, training and examinations for the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement.

Beach has garnered several awards for his teaching and advises the Radford University Student Managed Investment Portfolio Organization (SMIPO), which has won international competitions with its small-to-mid cap value fund.

Beach earned his Ph.D. from Washington State University and his MBA and B.S.B.A. from Tennessee Tech. He has authored research articles focused on portfolio management, personal finance and downside risk.

It is an honor to be entrusted to help Dean Low, my faculty colleagues and our support staff in delivering a curriculum that prepares our students for success.”
