Radford University is seeking volunteers for the fourth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, scheduled for Jan. 16, 2017.

The campuswide effort encourages students, faculty and staff to spend the federal holiday volunteering at different organizations in the New River and Roanoke valleys. Radford University is closed on Jan. 16; spring semester classes begin Jan. 17.

During the 2016 MLK Day of Service, more than 250 Highlanders were involved in 24 different community service initiatives, culminating in more than 877 hours of community service.

The event is sponsored by the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI), Scholar-Citizen Initiative, Diversity Awareness Programming and McConnell Library.
