Radford fraternity joins DePaul Family Services for field day festivities

Radford University social fraternity Pi Lambda Phi (PLP) in association with DePaul Family Services will host Family Field Day on Sunday, April 23 from noon-5 p.m. in the Dedmon Center.

Family Field Day will feature a series of fun activities  – volleyball, tug of war, food and outreach activities by area social service providers, such as Wounded Warriors, ASPCA, Light House Outreach and NRVCares. The event is free and open to the public.

The brothers of PLP are looking to create a unique philanthropy event to crown their 2016-2017 academic year, said event organizer Kyle Newman.

“This event will a fun, active day shared by community members on our beautiful campus,” said Newman. “There are members of our my fraternity who come from foster homes and we wanted to share with the Radford community our belief that family reaches far beyond blood.  This day is our way to extend a hand towards building a friendship.”

Family Field Day will take place alongside the annual Relay of Life in the Dedmon Center.

Phi Lamdba Phi is a social fraternity representing almost 50 members from across the world from and is part of the member of the Radford University Interfraternity Council. Their partners in the event are DePaul Service of Christiansburg, a nonprofit human services organization working to improve the lives of children, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities
