Radford University Sustainability issues Going Green Challenge

Radford University Sustainability is holding a 10-week competition on social media, challenging students to become more sustainable.

Throughout the competition, participants have chances to win prizes, including Frisbees and reusable water bottles. To participate, like RU Sustainability on Facebook and follow on Twitter.

Students may post photos of themselves and friends working on each challenge. A winner will be selected and announced on the following Friday.

“This is a fun way students can actively engage in sustainability by adopting and promoting green behaviors,” said Radford University Sustainability Manager Josh Nease.

The competition began Jan. 30, and a new challenge will be posted each week until Earth Week, April 17.

The first challenge is to reduce energy by unplugging cell phones and laptop chargers when devices are charged or not in use. When plugged into a wall, most devices and appliances continue to use energy even, if not turned on.
