ESHE 463: Fieldwork in ESHE.
Prerequisite: Completion of all required ESHE and HLTH courses and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and a 2.5 grade point average in the major
Credit Hours: (3, 6, 9, or 12) 45 contact hours per credit hour
Students must be completing ESHE 364 and may not exceed 9 hours in ESHE 463. Course provides students opportunities to integrate previous course work with practical field experience.

Detailed Description of Content of Course
This course provides the student avenues for fieldwork experience including opportunities to: interview and network with professionals in the field; develop skills pertinent to employment expectations; develop an understanding of the relationship of course studies to the world of work; gain on-site experience in operations and procedures applicable to the selected field of employment.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Lecture, discussion, class presentation, guest speakers, composes the class part of the program. During the fieldwork experience, interns are expected to function as an employee as they participate in exercises that would be expected effort in an actual work environment within the field of exercise, sport and health education.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
1. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of fieldwork procedures and expectations.
2. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of methods for computing work logs and provide evidence of the successful completion of required work hours.
3. The student shall demonstrate skills required for the performance of fieldwork tasks specific to a selected position including the completion of a portfolio giving evidence that each fieldwork objective has been met.
4. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of requirements for midterm evaluations and complete all requirements for the evaluation.
5. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of presentation skills required to demonstrate to others the specific tasks performed on a daily basis.
6. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of requirements for the final evaluation and complete all requirements for the evaluation.
7. The student shall demonstrate knowledge of requirements for researching and writing the final paper and provide for all requirements in a timely manner.
Assessment Measures
Evaluation techniques include weekly written assignments, on-site interviews and task performance evaluations, two agency evaluations, writing intensive class performance appraisals and final paper presentation/portfolio assessment.
