Prerequisites: ITEC 541 and ITEC 542, admission into the Data and Information Management program, or permission of instructor

This course provides students in the Data and Information Management program an opportunity to conduct research in the data and information management field under the direction of ITEC faculty members.  Results of the research will be formally presented at the end of the final semester. A total of 6 credits are required to complete this Thesis option.

2. Detailed Description of Course

To be determined by the student, the thesis advisor, and members of the committee.
A student planning to do a thesis should submit a proposal to the Dean of the Graduate College at least two weeks before the end of the semester preceding the semester when the work will begin. This proposal is submitted on a form, available in the Graduate Office, which must be signed by the student's advisor, by the graduate faculty member who will direct the work, and by the other members of the student's committee.

3. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Students work independently with an advisor and a committee with at least two faculty members from the Department of Information Technology.

4. Goals and Objectives of the Course

To be determined by the student, the thesis advisor, and members of the committee.

5. Assessment Measures

Assessment will include both conceptual and applied knowledge and skills.  The thesis grade will be recorded as “Pass” or “Fail.”
