MUSC471:472. Fourth Year Applied Music
Credit Hours (1-3).
One-half hour (one credit) or one-hour private lesson (two or three credits). Three credits available to performance majors only.
Prerequisite (MUSC471): Completion of MUSC372 with a grade of "C" or better.
Prerequisite (MUSC472): Completion of MUSC471 with a grade of "C" or better.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
Private instruction in the Applied Music Level System at levels VII and VIII, or higher as appropriate to the student's level of advancement.
- Covers technique, repertoire, musicianship, sight-reading.
- Specific requirements for each level of competency in each applied area are on file in the Department of Music office.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Applied private music lessons.
- One-half hour per week for one academic credit.
- One hour per week for two academic credits.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Students are expectied to develop both technical and musical skill advancement at a specified level in applied music performance.
Assessment Measures
Each student peforms for an applied music jury at the end of each semester.
The jury determines if the required level of competency has been achieved and assigns a final grade. The final grade for the course is the average of the grade assigned by the jury and the grade assigned by the applied teacher following the jury performance.
