    As part of the Celebration for President Hemphill’s Inauguration, Radford University is holding a campus-wide Day of Service on October 12, 2016. The Day of Service is organized by the Highlander Helpers Backpack Club, a Radford University student service club that provides food for students in Radford City School System. These students have been identified as “food insecure” and need nourishment during the weekends.

    Location & Time: TBD "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande is a thoughtful reflection on the priorities of health care and the need to move towards a focus on well-being rather than cure. While this book is a must-read for anyone involved in health care, it is relevant to anyone who has experienced chronic disease or death first-hand. We will be hosting a book discussion on October 21, 2016 to discuss the concepts of care vs. cure, end-of-life decision making, and the ethical dilemmas surrounding medical interventions in chronic disease. We will be providing books to the first ten people that sign-up, although anyone is welcome to join the discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.

    Every Scholar-Citizen must attend 1 ePortfolio lab a semester or make other arrangements with the SCI Director. Attending an open lab confirms your status in the SCI Distinction program and gives you a structured time to work on updating your ePortfolio. The labs are 2 hour sessions but you can come and go as your schedule allows during the 2 hour block. Assistance will be offered for any platform you choose (i.e. D2L, Wordpress, Portfolium, Weebly, Wix, etc.).
