Faculty Presentation:

Photographs and Memories: “The Past and History in our everyday lives”

Did you know that more people in the United States visit museums annually than attend all major sporting events and theme parks combined? There are good reasons for this, some economic and some cultural, but the truth is most people are very interested in history, they just don't like it in school. In this session we will discuss why people are so interested in the past, how they relate to the past individually, and who or what they trust to provide accurate and meaningful information about the past. We will make use of photographs, oral history accounts, and virtual museum exhibits to explore this topic in detail.
