Building the University of the Future
Fitness and Wellness Center
The new Fitness and Wellness Center will provide students with state-of-the-art recreational, wellness and exercise facilities and feature an indoor graded track that will wind through two levels of the building, making RU one of only a few universities nationwide with such a facility for running and walking.
A 10,000-square-foot Multiple Activity Court (MAC) will accommodate roller hockey and other strenuous sports. The building will also include two racquetball courts, weight rooms, a classroom for wellness-oriented instruction and office and support spaces.
Expected opening planned for fall 2013
New Multilevel Building for the Center for the Sciences
$49 million, 112,000 square foot facility
The new Center for the Sciences will offer an environment for a “culture of inquiry.” RU’s College of Science and Technology is known for its emphasis on the benefits of original undergraduate research with faculty mentors. In the Center for the Sciences, our students and faculty will have the freedom to extend their research capabilities, explore new complex strategies for research never thought possible at RU, and enhance grant funding potential for current and future research conducted by RU students and faculty. Glass walls between classrooms, meeting spaces and research laboratories will help create a community for research and enhance the visibility of research for freshman sciences students to experienced senior student scientists.
Expected opening planned for fall 2014
