On August 23, 2007, the RU Board of Visitors approved Radford University’s Strategic Plan, 7-17, Forging a Bold New Future. The plan will serve as a blueprint allowing our institution to become one of the top 50 Masters universities in the nation.
The plan is the culmination of the efforts of many who participated in President Kyle’s Commission for the Future of the University; who served on one of the Commission’s task forces; who attended one of many open forums, focus groups, or workshops; or who composed early drafts of the plan as part of the writing team. In many ways, however, this plan constitutes the beginning of our work rather than the end.
Now the University community must work together to develop tactical implementation plans that set specific targets, benchmark goals, timelines and responsibilities to ensure the success of the 7-17 Plan. As we work collaboratively with the Faculty Senate, the Administrative/Professional Senate, the Staff Senate, the Student Government Association, and other constituencies to prepare these operational plans, the directives and goals of 7-17 will ensure that our focus remains on our new vision. Fortunately, we will be Forging a Bold New Future upon a strong and stable foundation: the mission and core values that have been the bedrock of Radford University for nearly a century.
