Walker Hall improvements complement sustainability efforts

The Walker Hall Technology Center recently underwent renovations that will enhance students’ educational experiences and align the computer lab with RU’s commitment to sustainability.

Improvements include new LED lights and paint. In addition, the lab is now equipped with light dimming capabilities and will soon have occupancy sensors to save additional electricity.

With the light fixtures using less electricity and fewer fixtures installed, savings are expected to be greater than 50 percent of the original electricity usage.

“With the Walker Technology Center being the largest computer lab on campus and with its long operating hours, the potential for energy savings and a better overall experience for students was great,” said RU Sustainability Coordinator, Julio Stephens. “Better lighting, better controls and a better atmosphere will make for a greatly improved studying environment.”
