Attendee Information

Tickets

Each student will receive five tickets for their specific ceremony. Tickets will be color-coded to indicate the ceremony time. No extra tickets are available; therefore, students who do not plan to use all of the allocated five tickets are encouraged to share with peers who are seeking additional tickets. Remember that the tickets are specific to the 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ceremonies.

If there is available seating after all ticket holders are seated, guests without tickets may be allowed to enter and be seated as space allows. Ticket holders should arrive at the auditorium no later than 10 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

For the comfort of all of our guests, children (excluding infants) must have a ticket. Infants will be allowed to sit on the lap of a family member.

Scheduling

Please review the Commencement Weekend Schedule of Events to plan your weekend activities.  In doing so, remember that while start-times are firm, it is difficult to anticipate when events will end. It is a good idea to remain as flexible as possible and leave a sufficient time buffer in scheduling post-graduation festivities.

Photography

A professional photographer will photograph each graduate as they cross the stage at the individual college ceremonies and the hooding ceremony.  Proofs and order forms will be mailed to each graduate after the event.

Commencement is a special celebration for graduates and guests. To keep it enjoyable and meaningful for all, we ask that all graduates and members of the audience remain seated throughout the entire ceremony. Photography and other recording may be done only from the seating areas. We also ask that guests not approach the front of the auditorium for photographs as this area must be kept clear to ensure a smooth procession of individual graduates.

Inclement Weather

We are keeping our fingers crossed that Winter Commencement Weekend weather will be high in the 40s (average temp is 46 degrees), with spectacular blue skys. We will monitor the forecast carefully, and if severe weather appears imminent, we will post a cancellation announcement by 6 p.m. Friday evening on the university marquee on East Main Street, online at www.radford.edu and on Public Radio WVRU 89.9 FM.

Live Streaming

The main ceremony will be streamed live on the Radford University website. On the day of ceremony, visit www.radford.edu to find a link to the live stream.
