Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism

Recreation, Parks and Tourism students can become key leaders in our Adventure Based Learning Experience (RU ABLE), guiding campus and community groups on outdoor adventures. Through hands-on involvement and an in-house certification process, students can achieve Student Leader Facilitator status, gaining valuable skills and real-world experience.

Immerse yourself in stunning natural landscapes and cultural heritage sites. Our proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia’s Civil War Trail, New River Trail State Park and Crooked Road Music Trail offers unmatched recreational opportunities. At Radford University, the world becomes your classroom and playground.

"Radford University gave me the platform to pursue a dream career of providing dolphin-assisted therapy to kids and adults with special needs. Learning from the professors at RCPT has given me the leadership skills, education foundation and practical experience to become successful."
