Over the last several years, a number of major new buildings and completely renovated buildings have been completed and delivered for use.
Center for the Sciences
Center for the Sciences
Construction of a 113,671-square-foot Center for the Sciences building was completed in January of 2016. The new center includes teaching and research lab spaces, classrooms, faculty offices, a planetarium, a vivarium, and a Museum of Earth Sciences.
Classes started in the new building for Spring semester 2016.
College of Humanities and Sciences building
Hemphill Hall
Construction of the 142,000-square-foot College of Humanities & Behavioral Sciences building was completed in August 2016. The building includes a mock courtroom, vivarium, TV and radio/podcast studios and an Emergency Operations Center.
Classes started in the Fall semester of 2016.
Whitt Hall
Whitt Hall
Renovation of the 29,000-square-foot Whitt Hall was completed and occupied in August 2017. The building includes space for multiple academic and student services offices, along with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and meeting/classroom space.
Reed and Curie Halls
Reed and Curie Halls
The complete renovation of 75,000-square-foot of Reed and Curie Halls is completed and classes are underway for spring semester 2020. The renovated buildings seamlessly connect to the recently opened Center for the Sciences to provide a home for the Artis College of Science and Technology. The renovated buildings provide space for Geology, Physics, Geospatial Sciences, Chemistry, and Biology, along with the Cyber Security Center and the Greenhouse.
