Radford University has earned the 2025-2026 Military Friendly School – Gold designation.

The honor comes from Military Friendly, a brand created by the advocacy organization Viqtory to promote civilian opportunities for veterans. Its ratings program began in 2003 as a vehicle to encourage civilian organizations to invest in programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans as employees, entrepreneurs and students.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2025-2026 survey, with 830 earning special awards for going above the standard.

The 2025-2026 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council, an independent group of leaders in higher education and military recruitment. Final ratings were based on survey results and assessment of each institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates, both overall and specifically for student veterans.

“Radford University is thrilled to again be recognized by Viqtory as a gold-level Military Friendly School and to have them recognize us as one of only two (of the 10 public or private four-year institutions in the commonwealth) to be recognized at that level,” said Bill Wilson, director of Radford’s Military Resource Center. “We are proud to continue to serve our military-affiliated students, help grow that population and receive this recognition.”

The Military Friendly Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans and survey responses from institutions. The survey is administered for free and is open to all postsecondary schools that wish to participate.
