Zach and Danielle Andersen, both Radford University graduates from the class of 2018,
found more than just academic success during their time at Radford—they found each
other. The couple began dating in their junior year in 2016, having crossed paths
through mutual friends and shared experiences on campus.
Zach, a senior industry executive at TransUnion, credits Radford for giving him invaluable
business knowledge and hands-on career preparation. “They presented me with several
opportunities,” Zach said, recalling how the university helped him craft a resume
and navigate the job market. On the day of his graduation, he received a full-time
job offer, marking the start of his professional journey.
Danielle, now a senior infrastructure vulnerability remediation engineer at MetLife,
initially studied criminal justice and Spanish before discovering her passion for
cybersecurity. After interning with Raytheon, she was offered a full-time position
before graduation. She emphasizes the importance of Radford’s cybersecurity program
in shaping her career path. “I can say that’s thanks to Radford,” she shared.
Beyond academics and professional success, Radford’s close-knit community allowed
the couple to develop lifelong friendships. Over 75 Radford graduates attended their
wedding, and many were part of Danielle's bridal party. Reflecting on their time at
Radford, Zach expressed immense gratitude for the opportunities and experiences, especially
finding his wife. “I’m always proud to be a Highlander,” he said.
