Art History and Museum Studies concentration

Study the history of visual art, from prehistory to contemporary times and explore the role art has played in shaping social and political values in western and non-western societies. Our B.A. in Art with a concentration in art history offers courses on specific time periods, geographical regions, and themes. The concentration is unique in that it gives students the opportunity to specialize in either pre-modern or modern areas of art history; offers museum studies courses at the undergraduate level; and has enough flexibility for students to pursue courses in studio art, history, literature, business, or other disciplines.

Students in art history may find employment in museums, galleries, libraries and archives. By its very nature, art history is interdisciplinary, so it provides good preparation for the pursuit of graduate studies in the humanities. It is especially excellent as preparation for further study in art history, museums, restoration, material culture and art therapy.
