ANSC 496: Seminar in Biological Anthropology
Prerequisite: ANSC 201 or permission of instructor
Credit Hours: (3-4)
Reading, research, and/or lectures focusing on specialized topics in biological anthropology selected by department faculty.
Note(s): This course may be repeated for credit as long as topics vary.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
Content for the course will be determined by the instructor in consultation with the Anthropological Sciences faculty. Content will include reading and discussion of the primary literature on the course topic.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Class may include lecture, discussion, laboratory or field activities, student presentations, or guest lectures. Course conduct will vary by instructor and topic but will include reading and discussion of the primary literature in that subject area.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Students will examine and demonstrate knowledge of primary literature in biological anthropology they may not otherwise experience.
Assessment Measures
Students may be evaluated on the basis of their performance in class discussions, on examinations, and on papers and projects. Specific course assessment measures will vary by instructor and course topic. This course will also be included for the assessment of the Anthropological Sciences learning outcomes.
