DSN 498: Independent Study
Prerequisites: Permission of Instructor
Credit Hours: (1-3)
Investigation by the student in areas of interest under the direction of an adviser.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
The content of the course depends upon the nature of the student's interest, subject
to approval by the directing professor.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
The conduct of the course is also dependent on the nature of the study. Typically,
the student would either complete a major research project or a major design project.
Goals and Objectives
The objective of this course is for the student to demonstrate understanding and/or
competency in an area of Design not included in the department's standard curriculum.
Assessment Measures
The assessment measures utilized depend upon the nature of the study undertaken by
the student.
Other Course Information
An independent study may be taken either on a pass/fail basis (P/F) or for a letter
grade (A-F). Students may apply no more than six hours of independent study credit
toward graduation requirements.
