ECON 698: Directed Study

Prerequisite: Approval of the directed study supervisor, advisor, and dean of the Graduate College

Credit Hours: (1-4)

Semester offered: Summer, Fall, or Spring

This course provides the opportunity for semi-autonomous independent research on an economic topic of interest to the student. It will provide the student with an opportunity to develop conceptual sophistication about specific topics.

 

Detailed Description of Content of the Course

Graduate level economics students will be provided an opportunity to do research on personally selected topics of interest to the student, and to make a contribution to the field of economics.

Detailed Description of Conduct of the Course

This course provides a semi-structured research experience designed to allow the student to develop a research proposal and to investigate in greater detail topics of interest in economics. The student will be expected to develop a written presentation on a topic selected in consultation with the directed study supervisor by using primary or secondary research sources.
